Wild Cherry Scissor Truss

Adam led an intrepid crew of volunteers in joining flitch-sawn black cherry logs into an organic scissor truss. With the distinctive use of a natural fork to “reconstruct” the branching tree stem, this truss is one of five in the roof of a pavilion at a community center in Virginia. The execution of the full-round lapped crossing of the scissor chords was particularly demanding and blind-anchors the steel kingrod. Creating this truss was part instruction in visualization and part production on a tight schedule.
